One of the unique qualities of the King Air is its ability to fly in to remote airports, where sometimes there isn’t much in aircraft service and support. If a King Air owner/operator would find themselves in a situation where they would have to tie-down their aircraft, Aero / Mechanical Technologies, Inc. has created angled rings and tail skids out of stainless steel which it says is far stronger than the OEM standard parts. The company estimates their parts on a King Air can hold up to 170 mph wind speeds, eight to ten times that estimated for the standard rings.
