  While not strictly an aviation museum, the National World War II Museum in New Orleans, Louisiana, represents nearly every facet of that global conflict. A Douglas C-47 Skytrain, in U.S. Army Air Corps D-Day markings, hangs above the main entrance lobby, along with a Supermarine Spitfire replica.

The Hughes H-1 Hercules (aka, Spruce Goose) is the main at- traction on display at the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum in McMinnville, Oregon. This impressive museum is far more than the Spruce Goose, however. It contains scores of histori- cally significant aircraft, both civilian and military, as well as many craft from various space programs.
